Diagnostic Imaging at Meadville Medical Center
A recent upgrade to Liberty Street Hospital’s imaging resources, the GE MRI 450w Artist Lift provides advanced imaging capabilities for radiology professionals as well as an improved experience for patients.
The radiology department at Meadville Medical Center encompasses many modalities, as listed below. Outpatient imaging is offered at Vernon Place Imaging Center located on the second floor of One Vernon Place and at Liberty Street Hospital on the first floor.
All exams require a valid physician’s order before they can be performed. If we do not receive a valid order, your exam may be rescheduled.

Available Radiology Exams
Bone Mineral Density (BMD)
Bone mineral density, or dual-energy X-ray (DEXA), is the most highly developed and most thoroughly validated technique to diagnose, treat and monitor bone loss. BMD exams are performed using a Hologic APEX system.

Computerized Tomography (CT or CAT) Scan
MMC has three CT Scanner machines: Canon Aquilion Serve 80, Canon Aquilion Prime 40, and a Canon Lightning. Scanners are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Lung Cancer Alliance (LCA). We offer accredited low dose CT lung screenings, for ages 50–80 with a 20-pack per year smoking history, at Vernon Place Imaging Center.

Fluoroscopy / X-Ray
We offer unscheduled outpatient X-rays using Digital Radiography (DR) and Digital Fluoroscopy at Vernon Place Imaging Center and at Liberty Street Hospital.
X-Ray Hours
- Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Vernon Place Imaging Center
- Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Liberty Street Hospital
Fluoroscopy Hours and Scheduling
- Scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Vernon Place Imaging Center

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Our ACR-accredited department is located on the first floor at One Vernon Place, where we offer a 3 Tesla (3T) Siemens MRI. Meadville Medical Center offers the only 3T MRI machine within 50 miles. A 1.5 Tesla GE MRI scanner is located at Liberty Street. Both scanners offer a 70-cm bore and a 500-lb weight limit. We offer MRI breast imaging and biopsy procedures at Vernon Place Imaging Center.

Mammography
Digital services are provided for screening and diagnostic mammography and breast ultrasound. Both mammography and ultrasound are accredited by the ACR. Meadville Medical Center employs a breast nurse navigator, assisting patients through breast biopsies and treatment process.

Nuclear Medicine
ACR-accredited, the Nuclear Medicine Department houses three dual-head SPECT cameras. All three cameras are used to produce high-resolution images such as whole-body bone scans and cardiac stress test images.

Special Procedures Lab
Located at Liberty Street Radiology, the Special Procedures Lab and the Cardiac Cath Lab contain two Canon Alphenix labs. The labs provide imaging to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral vascular disease and coronary artery disease. The Canon Alphenix systems provide higher quality imaging while lowering patient and staff radiation doses.

Ultrasound
Meadville Medical Center has state-of-the-art Aplio i700 Toshiba Ultrasound Machines. Ultrasound has ACR accreditation in general, obstetric, breast and vascular ultrasound imaging. All technologists maintain RDMS credentials.
