Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA), Serum

Methodology: Electrochemiluminescence

Specimen Requirements: 1 yellow-top SST tube (minimum: 1.0 mL of serum) Centrifuge SST 30 minutes after draw. Refrigerate specimen after collection.

NOTE:

• Include patient’s age on request form.
• When age is not supplied, the results cannot be flagged as high or low.
• Medicare screening coverage requires the patient be 50 and over, and will provide 1 PSA screen every 12 months. Use the special CPT code below.
