Hepatitis C, QNT, RNA, (Heptimax) PCR/TMA

Useful For:
HCV RNA quantitative assays are used to confirm HCV Antibody and to document persistent infection. The Veterans Affairs Guidelines recommend HCV RNA assays for patients receiving treatment. HEPTIMAX ® C provides the broadest linear range available for HCV. The reference interval for this assay is 5-50,000,000 IU/mL.

Methodology: Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) / Transcription Mediated Amplification (TMA)

Specimen Requirements: 2 Lavender-top (EDTA plasma) tubes (minimum: 3.0 mL of EDTA plasma). Centrifuge lavender-top soon after collection. Separate plasma and FREEZE immediately. Send specimen frozen in plastic vial.

NOTE:

  • Do not thaw.
  • White-top (EDTA plasma) and yellow-top SST tube (serum) are also acceptable. If using these tubes, separate serum or plasma and freeze in a plastic vial.
