Methodology: Multiple methodologies

Specimen Requirements: Unacceptable specimen:
Specimen in viral swab.

Fluid or Tissue (preferred specimen):
10 mL of fluid or 2 gm of tissue from the affected site in a screw-capped, sterile container. Refrigerate specimen after collection. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.

Swab:
A swab specimen in a Culturette® may also be submitted. Refrigerate specimen after collection. Maintain sterility and forward promptly.

NOTE: CULTURE SITE IS REQUIRED ON REQUEST FORM FOR PROCESSING.

Analytical Time:

Preliminary report: 1 day

Final report:
Positive: =2 days (Reports may take 7 days or more for normally sterile specimen sites.)
Negative: 2 days

Days Set Up: Monday through Sunday
