Accessible Healthcare for the Uninsured

Whom Does the Free Clinic Treat?

The Meadville Area Free Clinic has been providing free health care to residents of Crawford County since 1997. The Free Clinic serves adults who do not have health insurance, medical assistance, Medicare or VA benefits.

Patients with chronic health problems such as asthma, high blood pressure, or diabetes, can receive care and monitoring. If a medical condition exists that cannot be handled by the clinician, referrals are made to specialists.

Who Provides Medical Treatment and Financial Support?

Professional staff is either licensed or certified in their field and all services are provided strictly on a volunteer basis, including a volunteer staff. Financial support is from individual and corporate support, the United Way of Western Crawford County, and Crawford Gives contributions. Depending on a patient’s income level, some pharmaceuticals are provided for free.

What Other Services Are Available?

The Meadville Area Free Clinic also operates the “Pass it On Program”, which provides mobility and safety equipment like walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, and more, free of charge to those in need.
