Urinalysis With Microscopic, Urine

This test includes bilirubin, color, glucose, hemoglobin, ketones, leukocyte esterase, nitrites, pH, protein, specific gravity, turbidity, urobilinogen and microscopic analysis.

Specimen Requirements: RANDOM:
12 mL (pediatric: 3.0 mL) from a random urine collection in a urine sample cup supplied by Meadville Medical Center Laboratory. Refrigerate specimen after collection.

CLEAN CATCH:
Collect as described above, using a
urine “clean catch” sample kit supplied by Meadville Medical Center Laboratory. Refrigerate specimen after collection.

NOTE:

If using the blue-capped preservative tube available from Meadville Medical Center Laboratory, refrigeration is not necessary. The urinalysis preservative system contains a boric acid tablet and has a maximum fill capacity of 12 mL. Please fill to the maximum fill line. Shake specimen to dissolve the tablet and label the specimen tube.
If not using the preservative tube, deliver to lab within 2 hours for optimal results.
