Useful For:
RMSF, caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, is the most severe and frequently reported rickettsial infection in the United States. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are required to avoid potentially fatal outcomes.

Methodology: Immunofluorescent Assay (IFA)

Specimen Requirements: 1 yellow-top SST tube (minimum: 0.2 mL of serum). Centrifuge SST 30 minutes after draw. Refrigerate specimen after collection.
