MRSA Detection by Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Additional Info:
MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. It’s a strain of staph that’s resistant to the broad-spectrum antibiotics commonly used to treat it. MRSA can be fatal.

Methodology: Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)

Specimen Requirements:
Collect specimen on a plain swab from nasal source. Store specimen at room temperature after collection.

NOTE: Other non-gel swabs may be acceptable. Call 333-5670 prior to collection for approval.

Analytical Time:
1 day

Days Set Up: Monday through Sunday
