Factor V Leiden

Useful For:
Factor V Mutation (Leiden) is a point mutation that causes resistance of factor V degradation by activated protein C. This mutation is associated with increased risk of venous thrombosis.

Methodology: Polymerase Chain Reaction and Detection

Specimen Requirements:
5 ml EDTA whole blood (lavender-top)

Minimum: 3.0 mL of whole blood. Store specimen at room temperature after collection.

NOTE:
ACD solution B (yellow-top), Sodium heparin or Lithium heparin (green-top) are also acceptable.
If collecting multiple factor studies, draw each factor in separate tube.

Analytical Time: 4-5 days

Days Set Up: Monday through Sunday
