Additional Info:
CK-MB will be performed if indicated by Total CK result. This further testing considered medically appropriate will be reflexed, resulting in additional charges.
Methodology: Enzymatic, Electrochemiluminescence
Specimen Requirements: 1 yellow-top SST tube (minimum: 1.0 mL of serum). Centrifuge SST 30 minutes after draw. Refrigerate specimen after collection.
NOTE:
Green-top (lithium heparin) is also acceptable.
CK-MB isoenzyme determinations are done if the total creatine kinase is >100 IU/L.
It is suggested to order test in triplicate, each drawn 8 hours apart.
Specimens must be received and analyzed within 4 hours.
Analytical Time: 1 day
