Methodology: PCR
Specimen Requirements: Collect stool specimen in a plastic screw-cap container. Label specimen with your name and date and time of collection. We cannot accept unlabeled specimens. Keep refrigerated and bring back to the laboratory as soon as possible within 24 hours of collection.
NOTE:
Only 1 specimen accepted in each 24 hr period.
Well formed stools are unacceptable and will not be tested.
Specimen collected on swabs or toilet paper are unacceptable.
CONTACT PRECAUTION – Alcohol rinse is not effective to kill c-diff spores. Wash hands with soap and water.
