Useful For:
Citrate binds to calcium and inhibits kidney stone formation. Thus, low concentrations of citrate may lead to kidney stone formation. This is the most important risk factor for kidney stone formation in children.

Methodology: Enzymatic Spectrophotometric

Specimen Requirements: Submit an entire 24-hour urine collection in a urine container supplied by Meadville Medical Center Laboratory. Refrigerate specimen during and after collection. No preservative required.

Analytical Time: 3 days

Days Set Up: Tuesday, Thursday
