Meadville Medical Center
Meadville, PA - Meadville Medical Center's Cardiac Department is proud
to announce that it has now performed over 5,000 cardiac catheterizations
since the laboratory opened in 2003. The majority of these were performed
in the past 6 - 7 years and the increase in volume is mainly due to patient
and physician confidence with the program and what it offers our community.
John Wilson, MD, Interventional Cardiologist and Director of the Cardiac
Catheterization Laboratory reminds us that "Cardiovascular disease,
including heart disease and strokes, remains the number one killer in
the United States. Heart disease kills more people each year than all
forms of cancer combined. This is an impressive milestone and means that
we have touched the hearts and lives of our patients over 5,000 times,
often in critical situations. Our excellent team has made this possible
and have been honored with several national achievement awards for quality
and safety."
MMC is proud to offer our area residents a complete line of state-of-the-art
cardiology services. The Cardiac Care Center offers extensive non-invasive
inpatient and outpatient services along with the Catherterization services.
Board-certified cardiologists work closely with internists, family physicians,
specialists and emergency physicians, to diagnose and treat patients and
to develop a treatment plan specific to each individual's needs. Specially
trained cardiac nurses and cardiovascular technicians instill patient
confidence with their technical expertise and caring attitude. At the
onset of any heart symptom immediate action is crucial. Seek treatment
and realize that these services are available right here in our community.
