Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Crawford County Early
Intervention Program?
The Early Intervention Program is a
family-centered, free, and confidential
program. Our services are available to
families living in Crawford County whose
young children, under the age of three,
demonstrate delays in one or more areas of
development. Eligible children receive help
from therapists to reach their full
potentials while parents/caregivers learn
hands-on strategies and techniques to best
meet each child's unique needs.
Does my child need Early Intervention
Program Services?
Anyone may call the Early Intervention
Program Service Coordinator or visit our
office (814-333-8793). A service coordinator
will thoroughly explain Early Intervention
Program services and will meet with you and
your child to complete a developmental
screening. The screening will help to
determine if your child should be referred
to the program. Children referred will be
assessed by appropriate specialist/therapist
to determine individual strengths and needs.
What does Early Intervention provide?
Any child who is eligible for Early
Intervention Program services can receive
family focused therapies in the home, at the
child's daycare, or another community
setting in which the child regularly
participates. Parents/caregivers are the
child's first and most important teachers,
so they are involved with each therapy
session. Intervention services for your
child depends upon your family's needs.
