MMC's intensive care patients are often in
critical condition and experience long-term
hospital stays. Providing these patients
with the most comfortable and
technologically advanced bed, a Total Care
Bed, was the focal point of the 2003 Annual
Fund Campaign.
Annual Fund gifts designated for Community
Health Services purchased a Dynatronic
Stimulator/Ultrasound unit for use by
physical therapists fro the Visiting Nurse
Association and a technologically advanced
dental equipment system for the Conneaut
Valley Dental Center.
Gifts to the campaign total $184,021,
exceeding our $180,000 goal. Our success is
the direct result of a dedicated team of
volunteers. With the leadership of David
McMillin, General Chairman, and the division
chairpersons pictured, 109 volunteers
requested support from their peers, friends
and families. We extend our most heartfelt
appreciation and thanks to a remarkable team
of volunteers.

Over the years, your gifts have allowed
Meadville Medical Center to upgrade its
facilities and equipment, offer new
services, and provide high quality health
care to community members. We are extremely
appreciative of your support and extend a
sincere thank you to every donor.
You Can
Make A Difference
Annual Fund gifts earmarked for the purchase
of Total Care Beds, Community Health
Outreach or Community Health Services can
and do make a difference. MMC depends on the
generosity of our friends, neighbors and
past patients to help us ensure MMC's
equipment continues to be up-to-date. There
is a constant need to replace older
equipment and to acquire new medical
technology to ensure that as many lives as
humanly possible will be saved in the
struggle to prevent, detect and treat
disease. Purchasing new equipment allows the
medical staff to provide the best possible
care.
With this reality in mind, thank you for the
overwhelming generosity you have shown in
the past. Please continue to help support
the Meadville Medical Center Foundation and
help keep us ready to meet the health care
challenge of the future. Your contribution
may be in the form of an outright donation
or a pledge payable over one year. Please
make your check payable to Meadville Medical
Center Foundation. A charitable gift receipt
will be issued for income tax purposes.

Why do you
support the Meadville Medical Center
Foundation?
"The hospital is a vital part of the
Meadville community. The annual fund drive
is an expression of community ownership of
the Medical Center and allows all of us to
participate."
Gary L. DeSantis
Chairman of the Board, MMC Foundation
Vice Chairperson, MMC Health Systems, Inc.
"The Meadville Medical Center is more
than just a local business seeking our help.
It is our community’s true epicenter of
life. As human beings we all require care at
some point and it seems unquestionable that
all of us would want no less than the best
medical care possible right here at home.
Supporting the MMC Annual Fund Drive is more
than just a humanitarian idea, but is truly
a personal investment in the quality of life
for all to share in Crawford County. Our
gifts show our true spirit of charity and
concern not just for the hospital but for
our fellow man as well. The equipment and
services made available from previous
campaigns have done so much to help in the
continuing struggle to provide high quality
medical treatment, that I can only ask any
potential donor, 'Is there really any good
reason not to help?'"
David McMillin
General Chairperson of the 2003 Annual Fund
Campaign
"The Total Care Bed provides maximum pain
relief for our cancer patients. One patient
was so impressed that he wanted to take the
bed home with him! This bed is especially
made to provide more comfort for patients
who are in bed for long periods of time."
Sharon Peters, RN
Nurse Manager of Oncology
"Many times I am asked why I support the
Meadville Medical Center. The answer is
easy. We have a first class Medical Center
and the impact on our residents and
community without this facility would be
devastating."
Clark J. Hoffman
Vice Chairman of the Board, MMC Foundation
MMC Health Systems Inc. Board Member
"It has long been recognized that the
health-care needs of a community can best be
identified and addressed on the local level.
In 1986 Meadville Medical Center was formed
by the consolidation of two community
hospitals - Meadville City Hospital (founded
1880) and Spencer Hospital (founded 1867).
The citizens of the Meadville area have
always taken their healthcare needs
seriously and have very effectively
addressed them. Presently, the very
existence of the citizen owned and operated
Meadville Medical Center, as we know it, is
threatened by outside forces. Thus it
behooves all of us in the Meadville area to
support MMC in every possible way if it is
to survive."
Dr. Abe Finton
Treasurer, MMC Foundation
Secretary, MMC Health Systems, Inc.
